One thing that can make a vacuum draw faster is to use a larger hose. Since vacuum at its best is only about -15 psi, it is only going to flow into the end of the hose at that rate. Doubling the diameter increases area four times. So a pump with a 1/2" hose will be four times as fast as the same pump with 1/4" hose to the bag.

Dec 22, 2019· Vacuum pump oil sucked into system. Hi all, I was working on a system last week and got vacuum pump oil sucked back into the system during evacuation. After pressure testing I had vacuumed down to 500 microns and blocked off the system by ball valves at the charging ports and turned off the pump. I should have closed the pump valve, but did not.

Let me make sure I got everything right - after everything is flushed I am going to put 2oz of oil in compressor and 2 oz into new drier/rcvr, after that I will pull vacuum for 30 min at a time twice, letting it boil for 10 min. After that the system will be dry as a bone and ready to be charged.
To do so, I need to remove the A/C compressor and condensor, but it is currently charged. I have borrowed an A/C manifold gauge set and an A/C vacuum pump from AutoZone. I thought I could use this not just to put a vacuum on the system later when I swap to a different vehicle, but to evacuate the R134a refrigerant currently in the system.
